The Truth... What is it?

I Corinthians 15:29-32

The apostle Paul writing (God speaking via scripture...The Word), reminding the believers at the church in Corinth (who were hearing some false teachings, such as the living believer undergoing water baptism for those dead prior to knowing of Jesus) of the facts of the resurrection of Jesus and the hope of the future resurrection.

Wycliffe Bible of 1384: 29Ellis what schulen thei do, that ben baptisid for deed men, if in no wise deed men risen ayen? wherto ben thei baptisid for hem? 30 And wherto ben we in perel euery our? 31 Ech dai Y die for youre glorie, britheren, which glorie Y haue in Crist Jhesu oure Lord. 32 If aftir man Y haue fouyten to beestis at Efesi, what profitith it to me, if deed men risen not ayen? Ete we, and drynke we, for we schulen die to morewe.

King James Bible of 1611:  29Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? Why are they then baptized for the dead?
30   And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?
31   I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
32   If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.

NAS Bible of 1960:  29Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?
30   Why are we also in danger every hour?
31   I affirm, brethren, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
32   If from human motives I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what does it profit me? If the dead are not raised, LET US EAT AND DRINK, FOR TOMORROW WE DIE.

NIV Bible 1973-78: 29Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them? 30And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? 31I die every day--I mean that, brothers--just as surely as I glory over you in Christ Jesus our Lord. 32If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for merely human reasons, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die."
