Hebrews 12:2

Unknown church leader writing (God speaking via scripture...The Word), having just recited the roll-call of God's faithful people throughout history, speaking to the believers about Jesus as the origin of faith:

Wycliffe Bible of 1384: "...biholdinge in to the makere of feith, and the perfit endere, Jhesu; which whanne ioye was purposid to hym, he suffride the cros, and dispiside confusioun, and sittith on the riythalf of the seet of God."

King James Bible of 1611: "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

NAS Bible of 1960: "...fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. "

NIV Bible 1973-78: "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
