King James Bible
of 1611: 1 Now upon the first day of the
week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had
prepared, and certain others with them.
2 And they found the
stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
3 And they entered
in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 And it came to
pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining
garments:
5 And as they were
afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among
the dead?
6 He is not here, but
is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
7 Saying, The Son of
man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise
again.
8 And they remembered
his words,
9 And returned from
the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the
rest.
NAS Bible of
1960: 1 But on the first day of the week, at
early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.
2 And they found the
stone rolled away from the tomb,
3 but when they
entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 While they were
perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing;
5 and as the women
were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, "Why do you seek the
living One among the dead?
6 "He is not here,
but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was still in Galilee,
7 saying that the Son
of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise
again."
8 And they remembered
His words,
9 and returned from
the tomb and reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.
NIV Bible
1973-78: 1 On the first day of the week, very early in
the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in
clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In
their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do
you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he
has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be
crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " 8 Then they
remembered his words.
9 When they came back from the
tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others.
