Proverbs 1:29-30
Probably King Solomon writing (God speaking via scripture...The
Word), the 1st 4 chapters of the book of Proverbs being sort of a preamble about wisdom (Proverbs
collects "wisdom writings").
Wycliffe Bible of 1384: For thei
hatiden teching, and thei token not the drede of the Lord, 30 nether assentiden to my councel, and depraueden al myn
amendyng.
King James Bible
of 1611: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not
choose the fear of the LORD:
30 They would none of my counsel:
they despised all my reproof.
NAS Bible of
1960: 29 Because they hated knowledge
And did not choose the fear of the LORD.
30 "They would not accept my
counsel, They spurned all my reproof.
NIV Bible
1973-78: 29 Since they hated knowledge
