Nancy Heche:

She grew up in a religious family and won her doctorate in pastoral counseling.

She married Don Heche who lead a secret double life as a homosexual, dying of AIDS in 1983. It is said that Don abused their daughter, Anne. She suffered the death of several of her children. Daughter Anne had the high profile relationship with Ellen DeGeneres; it broke up. Anne married and has a child.

Nancy credits being able to not only live through all of this but to grow her often-faltering faith in God. I saw a brief interview with her on The O'Reilly Factor on 8 September 2006. See her testimony on the 700 Club website.

This website author would note (1) that Jesus is all about unity rather than divisiveness. And (2) it is God, Himself, who appears to declare homosexuality a "sin". Jesus followers & denominations recap their positions as to homosexuality in good faith because of what is interpreted as what God says! Yet, Jesus wants us to love and relate well to all, HERE (this link gives a 2015 update as to the idea of a "gay gene", etc.). Focus on the Family is another organization with resources to help non-traditionals who are dis-illusioned with their involvement in any LGBT lifestyle and also to help parents understand factors.
