Jill Drafts' sausage-and-cheese-ball appetizer

Betty's daughter, America Jill Drafts, makes these delicious appetizer's. Jill confessed to me today that the recipe is a Bisquick recipe.

prepare the sausage: Use one pound of your favorite, uncooked pork sausage. This is a stage that you could be creative and add herbs, if you desire (creative experimentation!).

other ingredients:

  • 4 cups (16 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese (your choice is to degree of sharpness) .
  • 3 cups original Bisquick mix.
  • One-half cup grated Parmesan cheese.
  • One-half cup whole milk.
  • One-half teaspoon dried Rosemary leaves .
  • One and a half teaspoons fresh parsley or 1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes .

the process:

  • Heat oven to 350ºF. Lightly grease bottom and sides of jelly roll pan, 15 1/2x10 1/2x2x1 inch.
  • Dump all sausage & ingredients into a bowl and mix with hands.
  • Pinch out one inch balls of mixture.
  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until brown. Immediately remove from pan. Serve as is (or, you may serve warm with BBQ or other sauce for dipping). Leftovers can be frozen for later.
