CAPRA points determination table:

The 5 Factors to sum: 

(1) pre-malignant-biopsy PSA (chose one): 

  • 2.0-6.0 = 0 CAPRA points
  • 6.1-10.0 = 1 CAPRA point
  • 10.1-20.0 = 2 CAPRA points
  • 20.1-30.0 = 3 CAPRA points
  • higher than 30 = 4 CAPRA points

(2) highest Gleason score in biopsies (chose one):

  • (1-3) plus (1-3)= ?...gives 0 CAPRA points
  • (1-3) plus (4-5)= ?...gives 1 CAPRA point
  • (4-5) plus (1-5)= ?...gives 3 CAPRA points
     

(3) [assumed?] actual clinical T stage (chose one):

  • T1c to clinical T2...gives 0 CAPRA points
  • clinical T3a... gives 1 CAPRA point
     

(4) percentage of cores that were cancerous cores (PPB%):

  • less than 34%...gives 0 CAPRA points
  • 34% or higher... gives 1 CAPRA point
     

(5) patient's age:

  • younger than 50 years old...gives 0 CAPRA points
  • 50 years old or more... gives 1 CAPRA point
     

 



INTERPRETATION: CAPRA Sum/score implications for 3 & 5 year recurrence-free status, respectively, after radical prostatectomy: sum 0-1, 100-97%; sum 2, 94-92%; sum 3, 82-76%; sum 4, 78-67%; sum 5, 55-42%; sum 6, 52-37%; and, sum 7 or higher, 44-31%.
