Bernard Nathanson, M.D. wanted to help dying women live in New York in the 1960's. More than 75,000 abortions are attributed to this one man. In the 70's, his conscience was bothering him with questions. In 1984 he asked an abortionist colleague to tape an ultrasound movie of an abortion. What they saw so shocked the colleague that the colleague ceased abortions thereafter. Dr. Nathanson began to show the tape to groups. Don Smith asked to use the tape to create the anti-abortion video, SILENT SCREAM. Though somewhat of a student of "religion" for many years, Nathanson knew nothing of "faith". But, in about 1997, he accepted Jesus as his savior and, in late 1997, published his story in the book: THE HAND OF GOD: A Journey from Death to Life by the Abortion Doctor Who Changed His Mind. His conclusion, having become a believer: abortion doesn't lead to cheapening of attitudes toward life; it IS one of many evils spawned by the perversion of "autonomy". "Autonomy", in this sense, refers to that sense of personal choice...an attitude which has become essentially a deified attitude in the USA. Freedom...liberty...personal choice above all! See Lilly Isaacs' story.
