Florinette Ford Renfrow: South Carolina's 2002 mother of the year,  announced as such 21 March 2002, began her trek at age 15. Born in 1938, she married Jimmy Renfrow when she was 15 & he was 16. They raised 6 boys and 5 girls in Lakeview in Dillon County, all of whom have gone to college. Having little money, they had activities at home together, went to church together , and went to ballgames together. Asked what her secret was for successful parenting, she replied, "My secret is not a secret. Its completely depending on the Lord to guide you every step of the way...when tough times come, you can lean on him as your support and your guide." She tried to make sure that their home was a place that her children wanted to be. They held high expectations for the children, but they never expected them to be perfect...they were expected to do their best. Mrs. Renfrow will complete 30 years as a librarian in the Lakeview public library in June 2002. Jimmy retired January 2002 from a car repair business. They have 36 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren!
