WIS-TV, Columbia, S. C., Senior Reporter Heather Hoopes was interviewed by a
newspaper reporter Thursday [Feb. 2002] on the eve of her last day at the station.
“Faith has become a
big part of your life,” interviewer Doug Nye asked Heather.
“How did that come about?”
“When I came here in 1994,” Hoopes replied, “I
watched Dawn Mercer in the newsroom. She
was cute and never gossiped. I
couldn’t stand her then,” she laughingly confessed.
“But then the guy I was dating
started taking me to church. The
things I was hearing from the pulpit were some of the same things I had heard
Dawn talk about. I began to
understand. It changed my life.
I had never had a relationship with the Lord, but I began to realize
there were more important things in life.”

She saw. Then she heard. What she heard helped Heather Hoopes to understand what she had seen. A life-changing transformation took place in her.
