Gov. Mike Huckabee: Born about 1956, he finished college in 2 years and attended seminary (because he wanted to be involved in Christian broadcasting) for a year during  which time his wife had to undergo surgery and radiation for spinal cancer. They were financially wiped out and existed month to month...God amazingly providing. He took a job directing the television ministries of evangelist James Robison. Later, he was a pastor in Pine Bluff & then Texarkana, Arkansas (each place 6 years). He sees government as the mission field to which he has been called...not to create a theocracy but to be a present witness as he governs. He was became governor 15 July 1996 on resignation of the previous governor (had been Lt. Gov. from 1993) and re-elected in 2002. In a lesson to all believers who are not pastors or in full time Christian ministry, Mike feels that his impact on non-believers & believers might actually be greater than when he was a pastor.
